The EMHD tournament series is proving to be a lot of fun. MH62 hosts these live events and aside from some bad beats, I can’t ever recall anyone leaving upset. EMHD Sorta-Satellites are attempting to build on that series’ success and move some of that fun onto Full Tilt Poker. The goal of these on-line tournaments is to provide a bit of a warm-up tournament and allow the winners of the on-line event a shot at playing the live event on the cheap … or even Free !

What’s a Sorta-Satellite ?

We chose the term Sorta-Satellite, because these on-line events aren’t quite proper satellites. Winning the on-line tournament will put the money into your poker account on Full Tilt Poker, it won’t give you a hand full of cash or a voucher to bring to the live game. Once the money is in your Full Tilt Poker account, use the options in the cashier area to get your money withdrawn.

How Many Winners Are There ?

There will be as many winners as possible ! The EMHD Sorta-Satellite tournaments will be $10+1 events on Full Tilt Poker. If the upcoming EMHD event is a $100 entry event, then for every 10 players in the Sorta-Satellite 1 person will win $100. Any leftover money goes to the next place finish. A quick example:

EMHD #6 has an entry fee of $100.

EMHD #6 Sorta-Satellite costs $10+1

EMHD #6 Sorta-Satellite gets 47 players.

The Sorta-Satellite prize pool is $10 x 47 = $470

The top 4 finishers will recive $100.

The 5th place finisher will receive the remaining $70.

Do I Have to Play in EMHD Events with my Winnings ?

Not at all. Of course we want you to come and play in the EMHD event that we’re Sorta-Satellite‘ing into, but if you want to use the money elsewhere, by all means do it. Play at Full Tilt Poker with it, request a withdrawal  and go stimulate the economy. You won it, you spend it.

How do I Find the Sorta-Satellite On Full Tilt ?

When the EMHD Sorta-Satellite is announced, you can find the details in the EMHD Sorta-Satellite Forum. Once you have the details, fire up the Full Tilt Poker client and login. (If you don’t have an account on Full Tilt, then read the Create an Account article that Hulk wrote).

Once logged in, the easiest way to find the tournament is to press CTRL+T. This will bring up the Find Tournament by ID screen:

For this example, we are looking for the EMHD #6 Satellite and we know that the Tournament ID is 83620877. Entering the ID number in the box and pressing the Find Tournament button will take you to the tournament lobby where you can register for the tournament.

When you’re in the Tournament Lobby, it’s time to Register. Press the Register Now button and you will be presented with the Registration Screen:

At this point, you should enter the password that you found in the EMHD Sorta-Satellite Forum and the Buy-In option and you’re ready to play. When the tournament starts, your table will be opened on your screen and the game will begin.
